Revised Feb. 2008 Biography: Steve Dacri
The most sought-after close-up magician in the world, and listed in the Encyclopedia of Magic and Magicians, Steve studied with magic legends Tony Slydini, Dai Vernon, and Frank Garcia and has won numerous awards from the International Brotherhood of Magicians, The Society of American Magicians, and other organizations. The Academy of Magical Arts/Magic Castle where he has been a featured performer since 1973, nominated him for a Magic Academy Award for his sleight-of-hand performance. In London, at The Magic Circle, the most presitgious magic society in the world, after his most recent (and unprecedented third) appearance there in April, Steve was presented with the highest honors that a magician could receive: "Member of the Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star", the elite group comprised of the world's finest magicians. And just this month, Steve was honored with a prestigious MERLIN Award (the Oscar of the magic world) for 2008 Best Close-up Magician in the World. Steve's extensive and varied background in magic includes creating customized magic presentations for corporate applications. Considered the world's greatest trade show booth magician, Steve frequently appears at major conventions and expositions, sometimes as an "infotainment" presentation or break-out session presenter. He has taught a series of lectures for magicians at The Magic Castle, and he often teaches magic courses and workshops at seminars and sales meetings for many Fortune 500 firms, and throughout the United Kingdom, France and Ireland. His "imposter speaker" progam never fails to bring the house down in board rooms and sales meetings throughout the US and Canada. Steve has been a regular performer since 1974 in Las Vegas, at the Bellagio, Mirage, Wynn, the Venetian, the Stardust, Hilton, Riviera, Desert Inn, MGM Grand, and Caesar's Palace, as well as Harrah's in Lake Tahoe and Caesar's in Atlantic City. He has appeared at Radio CIty Music Hall, the Casino de Paris in Monte Carlo, and with such stars as Rodney Dangerfield, Tom Jones, Tony Orlando, Bob Hope and many others. Steve currently stars in his own show, "Xtreme Close-up Magic" in Las Vegas. Prior to that, he spent six years headlining in the Secret Pagoda Showroom in Caesar's Magical Empire in Caesar's Palace, logging over 3,200 performances. For the seventh year in a row, Steve has been named the Creative Director and Web spokesman for the foremost magic web portal, MagicWebChannel.com. In addition to his performing talents, Steve is a prolific writer and director for television and film, having directed a number of TV shows, such as Emergency Call, Bounty Hunters and Magic Notebook and created many memorable TV commercials for Diet Coke, Ford, ABC and Mountain Dew, among others. He produced the very successful home video Magic Secrets, the first magic video for the general public, which has sold over 100,000 units to date, and Magic Party Show, which has topped 60,000 units. His interactive dinner theatre productions, including "Nathan & Nina's Jewish Italian Wedding", continue to generate rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Most recently, "All American High School Reunion" and "Mario & Mary's Wedding" have been breaking box office records in Buffalo, New York, and Carson City, Nevada. |
