Here are the shows that everyone still raves about...

Steve Dacri wrote and produced three dinner shows in 1991. “Mario & Mary’s Italian Wedding”, “Nathan & Nina’s Jewish Italian Wedding” and the “All-American High School Reunion” have all played to capacity crowds and critical acclaim in Boston since 1993. (“Mario & Mary’s Wedding” still plays in Boston and in South Florida.) Both All American High School Reunion and Mario & Mary's Italian Wedding are playng in Lancaster (Buffalo) New York. The history of these shows is outlined here.

In the wedding show productions, the audience becomes the guests of the wedding celebration, which begins with a short, hilarious ceremony, followed by a “reception”, complete with a meal, dancing, songs by various cast members, and all of the elements of an actual wedding.

The show is staged in a ballroom or function room rather than a showroom. The audience members are seated at round tables, and the action often happens at the tables, with the cast members interacting, dancing and joking with the guests. In Las Vegas, a feature of many hotels and casinos is a wedding chapel. When available, these locations will present the wedding ceremony portion in their wedding chapel, followed by a “receiving line” that leads the guests into the reception area.

This show was a huge success in Boston, both critically and financially. It received pages of rave reviews, press coverage and media attention (print and television). Despite competition in New England, which included “Tony & Tina’s Wedding”, the Steve Dacri productions consistently were praised in the media as the funniest, freshest and most enjoyable of them all.
